Fine Art Painting
Trudy Makepeace Book Cover
A friend wrote her life story during Lockdown in her first book 'Abused, Addicted, Free', which as the name suggests, explores her phenomenal restoration from a childhood of abuse and addiction. Three years previously I'd already started painting her life story in a portrait (as part of the Untold Story Series). It then became her book cover & is currently going into hundreds of prisons across the UK.
The Untold Story- Mexico
The first in a 7 part series, exploring the restoration stories of women around the world who have been abused & trafficked. It was created to be part of an exhibition called 'Siete Vestidos' in conjunction with the NGO 'Fin de la Esclavitud' at the University of Monterray, Guadalajara, Mexico. This sought to raise awareness & educate on the growing problem of both Modern Day Slavery & violence against women across Latin America.
'Play me I'm yours' Piano
Part of Luke Jerram's International public sculpture project of outdoor pianos around the city of Bristol. My piano explored the theme of Modern Day Slavery, particularly of women in Latin America. It was placed in St, Nicholas Market, where many people 'played it'. It is now Installed in City Academy.
La Novia Mexicana
The Mexican Bride- (oil on canvas) was created as part of a Photorealist portrait oil painting course I attended while living in Guadalajara, Mexico. Technically challenging, It is the first painted portrait I've ever created.
The Soul Singer (Bee Bakare)
Based on one of her album covers, this is a mixed media painting on board.
Peacock Butterfly
Acrylic on canvas.
